THE ANALYSIS OF EMERGENCY PATIENTS


Abstract
We have reviewed 46,429 Patients who visited the emergency room from August 1, 1994 to July 31, 1995 in order to look for a more appropriate management of the emergency medical system
@ES The types and patterns of emergency patients are summarized as follows:
@EN 1. Male to female ratio was 1.23:1 and the most common age group was first decade.
2. The peak time of patient's entrance in emergency room was between 8:00 pm and 10:00 pm(14.5%), and second peak was between 10:00 pm and 12:00 pm(13.7%).
3. The most predominant weekly distribution was Sunday(21/3%), and the least was Thursday(11.8%).
4. The most predominant monthly distribution of visit was September, 1994 and the least was March, 1995.
5. The most frequent duration of treatment at Emergency Room was within one hour(45.7%).
6. The most predominant department of treatment at Emergency Room was the department of pediatric(26.1%).
7. Trauma was occupied 23.5% in all of the patients. Simple laceration(or contusion) was the most common causes(74.4%). Automobile accident was the second most common causes(20.3%).
8. The number of the patients including D.O.A. and D.A.A were 312 cases and overall mortality rate was 0.67%.
